Church views on euthanasia in the Czech Republic

This Master's thesis named "Approaches of Czech Churches towards Euthanasia" studies the topic of euthanasia through position papers of four selected churches active in the Czech Republic. The four examined churches are Roman Catholic Church, Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren, and Czechoslovak Hussite Church whereas documents published by ecumenical panels are studied as well. The goal of the thesis is to create a statement overview of these four churches. First, the work introduces the topic itself, explains basic terms and development of different approaches. Second, it analyses position papers of examined churches which are subsequently compared in order to find the aspects which are common to the all four churches.
Comparation of úvodník and editorials in weekly magazines Reflex and Echo with emphasis on variability of genres

This bachelor's thesis deals with the introductory of úvodník and editorial. It presents their different interpretations and characteristics and aims to determine whether it can be distinguished as two specific genres, or whether it is only two different designations of the same genre. The first part of the thesis presents several definitions characterizing úvodník and editorial and also mentions the historic developement of úvodník, especially i teh Czech lands. One of the chapters is also devoted to the position of úvodník in Lidové noviny and mentions not only Ferdinand Peroutka as the local úvodník writer. The entry of foreign editorial into Czech media environment and the subsequent mixing of elemnts of úvodník and an editorial on the pages of social periodicals is also described. and the entry of foreign editorial into Czech media enviroment. As well it presents the position of editorial in Anglo-American media. The main part of the bachelor's thesis consists of an analysis of úvodník in the Reflex weekly and editorials in the Echo Weekly in a defined period of time, which is performed on the basis of several specified criteria.
